JKS has on staff a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD).
RCDD certification is offered by Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) and is a requirement for any company working for the United States Department of Defense (DOD) on IT related design projects. BICSI is a professional information and communications technology (ICT) association offering training, resources, and certifications for people within the IT field. It supports the IT industry including: voice and data, audio and video technology, electronic safety and security, and IT project management. This also includes the design, integration, and installation of pathways and spaces, fiber optic and copper based distribution systems, wireless systems, and infrastructure supporting the transportation of information and signaling between communication devices.
“Professionals who have mastered telecommunication and data communication technology systems and are highly experienced at integrating the systems into IT infrastructures.”
RCDD is a credential implemented in 1984 and focuses on the design, integration, and implementation of information and communications technology systems and infrastructure components as well as project management. The certification is intended for professionals who have mastered telecommunication and data communication technology systems and are highly experienced at integrating the systems into IT infrastructures. Recipients of the certification include architects, electrical engineers, telecommunications consultants, interior designers, telco personnel, data network designers, and other industry specialists.
Being a RCDD illustrates high-level knowledge and experience with Information Communications and Technology (ICT). Per BICSI requirements, to be considered for the credential, engineer must have at least five years of ICT design experience, two years of verifiable ICT design experience, three additional ICT equivalents chosen from combinations of experience, approved education, and approved ICT licenses and certifications. Design includes development of design plans (such as site surveys, user needs analysis, work print creation, project specifications, RFP creation, and pre-project coordination with PEs, architects, AHJs, etc.) Certification requires years of learning and experience as well as a comprehensive exam to complete.
Because structured cabling systems are fairly complex and require extensive knowledge and skills to install and maintain, ensuring your designer has the RCDD certification is important. RCDD is an internationally recognized designation and proves our ability to complete cabling design projects beginning with a consultation and design and continuing with testing and maintenance. We have been thoroughly trained to strictly adhere to industry and best practices on any ICT project. You are assured that our installation will exceed standards and that your system will perform at its peak. Our installed systems have a long life expectancy at a much lower cost of ownership and are flexible and scalable.
RCDD certification lasts three years, our engineers continuously train and study to maintain certification throughout their careers. BISCI independently tests all professionals requesting certification to ensure they demonstrate a thorough knowledge of codes and standards as well as best practices in the ICT industry.
“You can trust our proven knowledge and rest assured that we have trained and tested to the highest degree of design in the industry.”
Uncertified designers may not possess the level of expertise, knowledge, and experience as a RCDD certified engineer. You can trust our proven knowledge and rest assured that we have trained and tested to the highest degree of design in the industry.
