Data and Optical Testing

How

Data and Optical Testing

Because network access is critical to businesses, we stringently test and monitor every system we install based upon manufacturers requirements and national standards. Network failures can be very costly to businesses, so we take extra measures to ensure absolute minimal downtime. A healthy network ensures better productivity and less downtime. Testing fiber optic systems verifies the system meets all requirements and enables easier troubleshooting in the future.

“We prevent network failures before they occur.”

Testing and calibrating with precision equipment ensures we are able to prevent, detect, and resolve the leading causes of optical network failures.

  • Prevent: We carefully inspect all fiber optic cabling for any failures or light loss during installation or while moving existing cables. Light loss in fiber optic cables can be caused by contamination or damage. Contamination can come from dust floating through the air or oils from hands touching connectors during installation.
  • Detect: Our high-tech equipment assists us in detecting network failures, allowing us to isolate any problems quickly.
  • Resolve: Issues detected can be resolved before they cause downtime.

In addition to testing, we perform routine maintenance by cleaning fiber optic cables to ensure little chance for failure. If a failure does occur, we quickly diagnose any issues and to repair them.

There are many other benefits to certifying cables include:

  • Cost Saving: Certifying cables is far less expensive than repairing cables after they are damaged. Repairs are made on a live network, and can cause extensive downtime to repair them costing companies downtime and productivity loss. The cost of certification is far less than that of downtime and repairs.
  • Extended Warranty: Manufacturer’s product warranties are limited and may not cover costs associated with uncertified installations and cables that are not well-maintained.
  • Low Maintenance: Ensure the infrastructure performs well in the future. A well-maintained cabling system can be used for many years to come and can be expanded upon without the extra cost of removing and reinstalling all new cable. Certifying cables reduces waste by preventing the need to install a new cable system. Maximize your ROI by certifying and maintaining cables.

We use high quality testing and calibration equipment from the Versiv™ cabling certification product family to ensure proper installation and operation of both single mode and multimode fiber cabling. The DSX-5000 CableAnalyzer™ enables testing and certification of twisted pair cabling for up to 10 Gigabit Ethernet deployments and will handle any cabling system.

The DSX tests to all industry standards, and exceeds the IEC Level V specification. It includes fiber OLTS certification, OTDR, and Wi-Fi analysis modules and is designed around the ProjX™ management system and Taptive™ user interface. Test reports are easy to create and use the familiar LinkWare™ management software, which provides unmatched analysis of test results and reports. The DSX reduces the time required to fix cabling faults by using Dedicated Diagnostics.

The DSX is the first field tester to support balance measurements including Transverse Conversion Loss (TCL) and Equal Level Transverse Conversion Transfer Loss (ELTCTL). TCL and ELTCTL are measurements found in cabling standards and define the minimum performance for balance.
