Voice over IP

Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) business phone systems use your existing IP data network, your local area network (LAN), to process voice calls and handle system administration, which offers huge advantages over traditional digital business phone systems.

VoIP works by converting analog signals into small chunks of data, called packets, into digitized signals and sending them through an IP system.

There are three main types of VoIP:

ATA: This is the simplest and most common system. Calls are sent using an analog telephone adapter (ATA). The ATA, an analog-to-digital converter, enables you to connect a regular phone directly to your computer. The analog signals from your standard telephone are converted into digital data to be transmitted over your LAN or WAN.
IP Phones: IP phones are specialized pieces of equipment that look like a regular phone, but include an RJ-45 Ethernet connection as opposed to the standard RJ-11 phone connector that connected using regular phone lines. The RJ-45 connection uses Ethernet cabling and connects directly to your LAN or WAN using Ethernet cables.
Computer-to-computer: This type uses a computer, software, microphone, and speakers to make calls through the internet.

VoIP systems are highly flexible and scalable. Having a centrally controlled IP telephony system makes adding new users or employees easy. Moving employees around to different locations doesn’t require much extra effort as their telephone lines and equipment don’t have to be moved as well. Changes can be made through the central system.

Video Conference:

VoIP allows you to conduct video conferences, keeping your clients and employees better connected and allowing decisions to be made more quickly, regardless of their location.
